Japan Airlines cabin baggage allowance
Japan's two big carriers follow one industry-wide rule set by the Scheduled Airlines Association of Japan: one carry-on plus one personal item with a combined weight of 10 kg, each piece within 115 cm total (about 55 x 40 x 25 cm). If your bag fits JAL, it almost certainly fits ANA too.
The short answer
1 carry-on + 1 personal item, 10 kg combined. Carry-on max 115 cm total (55 x 40 x 25 cm guideline); personal item around 40 x 30 x 15 cm under the seat.
Cabin bag: size and weight at a glance
| Item | Japan Airlines allowance |
|---|---|
| Carry-on (max size) | 115 cm total (W 55 x H 40 x D 25 cm guideline) |
| Personal item | 1 item, underseat (handbag, laptop, small backpack) |

Dimensions always include wheels and handles unless the airline says otherwise.
Personal item policy
The personal item — handbag, laptop bag, camera or small backpack — shares the 10 kg combined allowance and must fit under the seat in front of you.
Checked baggage: how it works
Checked allowance on international flights is piece-based by route and cabin (for example two 23 kg pieces on many Economy fares). JAL's current checked tables are on its baggage pages.
If your bag is too big or too heavy
A third piece, or combined weight over 10 kg, means checking a bag at airport rates. JAL collects gate-handling charges for non-compliant carry-on; see the airline's page for current amounts.

Weigh before you wing it
Most carriers here enforce a 7–10 kg cabin limit. A luggage scale costs less than one gate fee and ends the guesswork.
