China Airlines cabin baggage allowance
China Airlines sets a per-piece limit — every carry-on piece may weigh up to 7 kg and measure up to 56 x 36 x 23 cm — and then decides how many pieces you may bring by cabin class.
The short answer
Economy and Premium Economy: 1 piece up to 7 kg (56 x 36 x 23 cm) plus 1 personal item. Business: 2 pieces up to 7 kg each plus 1 personal item.
Cabin bag: size and weight at a glance
| Item | China Airlines allowance |
|---|---|
| Cabin bag (max size, per piece) | 56 x 36 x 23 cm |
| Weight (per piece) | 7 kg |
| Pieces — Economy / Premium Economy | 1 + 1 personal item |
| Pieces — Business | 2 + 1 personal item |
Dimensions always include wheels and handles unless the airline says otherwise.
Personal item policy
One personal item — a handbag, laptop bag, small backpack or similar — is allowed in addition to the cabin-bag pieces. Oversized personal items don't get their own category: if your 'personal item' exceeds the personal-item guidance it counts as one of your cabin-bag pieces.
Checked baggage: how it works
Checked allowance follows the piece concept and varies by route and fare family. Prepaid extra bags are cheaper than airport-counter rates; see China Airlines' current baggage pages for your route.
If your bag is too big or too heavy
Pieces over 7 kg or over the size limit must be checked. Gate-checked bags are charged at airport rates, so settle excess weight at check-in, not at the gate.

Weigh before you wing it
Most carriers here enforce a 7–10 kg cabin limit. A luggage scale costs less than one gate fee and ends the guesswork.
